IRATA Level 2 — Lead Rope Access Technician

IRATA Level 2 is the intermediate qualification within the IRATA framework. It certifies that a technician can competently perform advanced rope access tasks, handle complex rigging systems, and take an active role in rescue procedures.

  • Advanced rescue procedures including controlled hauling and aid-climbing rescue.
  • Risk assessment, equipment standards, and inspection intervals.
  • Theory covering ICOP, legislation, and advanced rescue principles.

Course Duration & Assessment

  • Training: 4–5 days (minimum 30 hours).
  • Assessment: 1 day with an independent IRATA International Assessor.
  • Total duration: 5–6 days.
  • Re-sit allowed within 60 days if the assessment is failed.

Certification

  • Certificate validity: 3 years from the date of assessment.
  • Revalidation must be completed before expiry.
  • Progression to Level 3 after 12 months and 1,000 logged hours at Level 2.
